At Lily we evaluated the pros and cons of the swappable battery and we have found it's better to have an internal non-swappable battery. The internal battery allows for this first version to have the following features:
"Can’t slow down" by Reaktor Productions
Currently, the Lily Camera does not have any obstacle avoidance capabilities. We have found that most outdoor activities do not need obstacle avoidance because the Lily Camera can follow the user's path. But again, there are no guarantees that your Lily Camera will not hit anything while it is following you. If your Lily Camera is about to hit an object you can press the middle button on the tracking device and Lily will stop, hold its position, and continue to film you.
We are currently selling the Lily Camera for $899. When this pre-sale period concludes, the cost will progressively increase to the regular retail price of $999 USD.
We're still ironing out logistics for pre-orders. However, any new orders will ship in Winter 2016.
The Lily Camera is the world’s first throw-and-shoot camera. All you have to do is throw it in the air to start shooting. It flies itself and uses GPS and computer vision to follow you around. The Lily Camera is waterproof, ultra-compact, and shoots HD pictures and videos.
You can pre-order the Lily Camera today for $899 USD. After pre-sales are over, it will be priced at $999 plus applicable taxes and shipping.

Creating and manufacturing a new device is expensive. As a young company, being able to use the revenue from your pre-order to pay for things as we build them helps us reduce risk and helps ensure that we deliver the best possible product and customer service to you.
We will ask for your shipping address when your Lily Camera is ready to ship, making it less likely your camera is sent to the wrong address. Please make sure your email address is correct on your order so we can contact you.
For the customers who ordered during the international sales period, you are responsible for any VAT, tariff, duty, taxes, handling fees, brokerage charges, customs clearance charges, etc. required by your country for importing consumer goods.

Yes, we designed the Lily Camera to be compact and portable. It weighs less than your average laptop.
No. In order to waterproof the Lily Camera, we had to strip away the ability to remove the battery pack. 20 minutes of flight time is just enough for you to not think about your Lily Camera and be in the moment.
We wanted to make sure you can take your Lily Camera with you everywhere. Thus, we made it as compact and portable as possible. So instead of a bulky mechanical gimbal, we are doing digital gimbaling (The Lily Camera crops the region of the image that contains you).
The Lily Camera is designed to be used as a stand-alone camera. You do not need anything else to get the footage you want. A Lily Camera’s internal camera was built and optimized for aerial footage and it will give you amazing results.
The Lily Camera’s waterproof rating is IP67, which means that you can take it one meter underwater and it will still perform as expected. However, we do not recommend you spin the motors underwater. It is not a submarine :)
Yes, but we recommend that you rinse the motors thoroughly after each saltwater exposure. The motors are subject to corrosion over time.
Propellers are designed with safety and ruggedness in mind, which means that they tend to bend but not break. If your propellers get damaged, you will be able to purchase new propellers from our website.
Yes, we will release these soon.
Yes, and it is very easy. We will share a video explaining how to do it soon.

Yes, the tracking device has a microphone that records high quality sound. The Lily Camera automatically synchronizes audio from the tracking device with video it records.
The Lily Camera’s eyes will be solid blue.
The Lily Camera tracks the tracking device and uses computer vision to optically follow your features. You should have the tracking device on you for Lily to follow you.

Yes, just hand them the tracking device.
No, Lily can only track one tracking device at the time.
Not yet, we are working on this.
You need to pair your tracking device with Lily the first time you use it. After that it will connect automatically when Lily is on.
We have tested the Lily Camera in winds above 20 mph (at the beach), but we advise people not to operate their Lily Camera in winds above 15 mph.
The great thing about a Lily Camera is that there is no setup required. Just turn on your Lily camera, make sure you have the tracking device with you (it will automatically turn on when your Lily Camera turns on), and throw it in the air. By default, your Lily Camera will start following you and recording a video as soon as you throw it in the air. You can set your Lily Camera’s behavior-after-takeoff in the companion app.
You will be able to purchase these from our website soon.

Your Lily Camera will hover in place and try to recover the signal. As soon as it finds you, It will go back to whatever mode it was in before it lost you.
The tracking device will send you pulse vibrations when the battery is running low. If you don’t land it, the Lily Camera will smoothly land before running out of battery.

Absolutely, the Lily Camera always flies above head level so that you (and your kids) are safe.
The Lily Camera is always pointing at you and less than 100ft from you (pro tip: best shots are in the 10-30ft range). Also, the Lily Camera’s motors make noise. So other people will most likely notice it and quickly figure out where you are. You are better off climbing up a tree and using binoculars.
Right now, our team is working relentlessly on Lily Camera’s flight control software. We’ve hit some challenges there, but rest assured, it’s nothing our team can’t handle. We just need more time. To accommodate flight software optimization, hardware improvements, and additional rounds of testing, we will be delaying pre-order shipments until Summer 2016. For more details on the delay please review our blog post (LINK). For updates on what our engineering team’s progress, take a look at our updates page.
We completely understand that some of our customers may not be comfortable with waiting this additional time. It is your right to request a complete refund up until the time your unit ships. Even after it ships, we offer a 30 day money back guarantee provided the unit is not damaged outside of it’s warranty. If you would prefer a refund, please contact us at with your transaction number and email address used to make your order. It may take 5-10 business days for your refund to show up in your account.
We’re still ironing out logistics for our shipping timeline. Details will be shared as soon as they are available. We promise :)
